A night-market food stall in Taipei: one code, open or closed

Out of hours the code shows when the stall opens and where; during service, the menu in the language the phone is set to.

An example of how a business like this could use QRiva — not a customer story.

A stall that sells one dish, very well, from early evening to midnight, and is closed on Mondays. Its code is on the sign and on the takeaway bags, so it gets scanned at all hours, by locals and by visitors.

  • One dynamic link with routing rules on weekday and hour, in the stall's time zone: Tuesday to Sunday with the hour between 17 and 23 → the menu; Tuesday to Sunday between 11 and 16 → the 'opening at five' page; anything else → the opening hours.
  • Inside the evening window, three rules come first that also check the phone's language: Japanese, Korean and English phones get the menu in their language, and everyone else gets it in Chinese.
  • Each menu is a hosted page with a menu block. Pro allows ten pages: four menus and the two other pages fit with room to spare.
  • Analytics shows the languages of the phones that scan, so the stall can see which menus are worth keeping up to date.

Worth knowing. Routing reads the phone's language setting, not the person: a visitor whose phone is set to English sees the English menu. Each menu page links to the others, so nobody is stuck in the wrong language.
